Principal's message

The students, families and staff at Mary Brooksbank School are pleased to share the exciting things happening at Mary Brooksbank School through our website. Our school is a comprehensive community catering for the learning needs of students with moderate or severe intellectual disability. Established in 1987, we are part of the Camden Principal's Network in the Metropolitan South Operational Directorate.

Mary Brooksbank School and its staff are committed to providing programs that allow our students to achieve in each area of their education. We provide quality numeracy and literacy programs and have developed specific school wide strategies to assist teachers to best engage our students and allow them to achieve to their potential. We also provide meaningful engagement in all other Key Learning Areas by providing content rich learning experiences that enable our students to be active participants in their lives and the community.

All of our teachers are tertiary qualified and meet the Australian Teaching Standards. Teachers are mentored by Assistant Principals in the Junior, Middle and Senior schools. Our teachers and school learning support officers strive through on-going professional learning, collegial support and mentoring to provide the highest quality teaching and learning for your child.

You will be greeted by a welcoming and friendly administrative office team who understand the importance of effective communication with parents. They will be able to direct all of your questions to the right person. Help is only a phone call away.

We are well supported in the wider community through the tireless efforts of our P & C and the commitment of local business and charity. This has enabled us to enhance our resources so that we can continue to be at the forefront of providing an environment that supports an education that is consistently motivating and that best meets the complex needs of our students.  

We value our parent community and seek at all times to strengthen the links between home and school through promoting strong and valued partnerships with families.  We focus strongly on inclusion and collaborative partnerships with local agencies and therapists to create an holistic program for our students.
